How to Master False Eyelashes

Well Halloween is only a week away and with that I've been planning my costume for Halloween partydom! I decided as I love her look so much and seeming as she turned sixty this year, I've picked Twiggy as my star of choice for playing dressup : )

Twiggy was famous for her massive false eyelashes so I'll be using these as part of my completed look next Saturday... But falsies can be very tricky to master - worry not! The very lovely Victor C from MAC has given us his top tips in a brand new video on how to apply, disguise and get the best out of your false eyelashes!

What you'll need:
  • Eyelash curler (MAC's is great)
  • Black mascara of your choice
  • False eyelashes of your choice (false eyelashes are sold at many different places as well as MAC stores, you can find them at Superdrug or Boots, Sallys or other makeup counters. They also vary in price, it really depends on what you prefer. Ardell make great false eyelashes at purse-friendly prices!)
  • False eyelash adhesive (should come with your pair of false eyelashes!)
  • Black eyeliner gel (I can thoroughly recommend MAC's Blacktrack Fluidline for this)
  • Small angle brush

And here's the link to Victor's video - he gives some great sneaky secrets on how to make your false eyelashes look seamless:

In the meantime I'll be working on my Twiggy look for next Saturday, I'll take some photos and I'll be making a tutorial for you guys to recreate your very own Twiggyness! Also I promise I haven't forgotten the Aviator look and the Eyebrows tutorial either - my silly camera is still being a massive nuisance which means they're going to take a little while to put together.

Funnily enough the boy found a fantastic camera yesterday - we're thinking it's time to ask Santa nicely for one hehehe...

Ok, somewhere on my makeup grapevine, I found about these little treasures. Yes, every Christmas hols, as many of you may know, MAC release special limited edition kits over the holiday season.

I've just found out about this year's kits and they're so adorable! They'll be offering lip kits, eye palettes, face kits and a bronzing face kit, all packaged in beautiful metal cases with colourful spheres corresponding to the shades of blush, eyeshadows, etc. that they house!!

Here's a hand-picked selection from all of the kits on offer this winter, bearing in mind that in total there will be 8 kits on offer! These are the ones that I'm keen to try out most:

A Rose Romance - out now!

For those of you who don't know, the eagerly awaited A Rose Romance launched yesterday (I was onsite with work nextdoor to Soho's very own MAC PRO store where they were prepping the store before opening) :-D

I'm really loving the two Beauty Powders that MAC_Whore from Specktra reviewed a few weeks ago after the US launch. I don't have a bird's-eye view image of the powders myself, but if you go to her blog you'll see her piccie - oh the crumpled rose petal effect is so original and very, very pretty! In fact, as she says, you almost don't want to use them in fear of them fading lol! I think I'm gonna have to get me one :-P

Second of all, and I normally I don't get that excited about nail polish, but I saw her post on the Love and Friendship Nail Lacquer as part of the Rose Romance collection and my oh my, it's gorgeous. Very feminine, very pretty, very me. It's going on the Wants List! The shade is a lavender-pinky colour and quite dusky and it comes in three finishes: Cream, Sheer and Frosted.
Never have nails looked so darn pretty! :-P

Hello Kitty FOTD :-)

As far as the hype goes I'm waaaaay behind on posting about this! I heard about MAC's Hello Kitty range 4-5 months before its launch... Pretty much like the rest of the makeup fanatics around the world! I came along to the counter on the second day of it being available only to hear from the MAC girls that nearly EVERYTHING had sold out online and that other stores within the area were calling their counter to get hold of more stock.

I know that some people however have felt that despite the hype, this range has very little to offer in terms of anything new or different. But I still feel that the colours, the packaging and the designs are oh-so-cute! Plus the looks developed for the face charts of Mild Kitty and Wild Kitty are fantastic - I got me some work to do :-D

On my little haul I managed to bag a fair few goodies (I wanted so much more, but really couldn't justify the expense!):

Wild Kitty Glitter in Reflects Very Pink
Beautiful pink glitter - makes me think of dusky roses!

Wild Kitty Lipstick in Fashion Mews
A very sassy lavender colour in Glaze, and if you look further down the stick you'll see a Hello Kitty face imprint into the lipstick *squeeeeeee*

Mild Kitty Lipstick in Cute-ster
A lovely pinky neutral shade in Lustre, once again with a Hello Kitty face imprint in the lipstick

Mild Kitty Glitter Eyeliner in Girl Groove
I nearly went for the pink eyeliner but the girl at the MAC counter showed me this one and I fell in love with it. It has transparent teal reflects with multi-dimensional pearl. It's very yummy and I highly recommend for nights out on the town :-)
I've tried everything but the Glitter so far - just trying to think up a look that will incorporate it, but that shouldn't be too hard as I lurrrrve ze sparkles! :-D

The other day I created a nice and easy night-time look and my piccies are below. I gotta say this look is one of my favourites so far - the glitter eyeliner goes really well over black kohl eyeliner.
